The stormy sea, the slippery bridge and the struggle to find a sure support almost cost Paul Sperry his life, which from that moment began his long and ambitious search for a solution. One day in 1935, after seeing his dog run smoothly on the ice in Connecticut, Paul had an idea. Why not carve grooves, like those under the dog’s paws, on the bottom of the rubber sole? Thanks to that moment of inspiration, the first boat shoes in the world were born.
